DVIRs

According to RAIR’s analysis of nearly 70,000 motor carriers, 65% of CSA violations fall under the Vehicle Maintenance  BASIC.  Many of these violations, and the associated CSA points, can be avoided if drivers perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.  Exposure to financial risks, like litigation and fines, can also be reduced if drivers prepare complete and accurate DVIRs.

Paper DVIRs

RAIR helps motor carriers identify drivers who put the fleet at risk by “pencil whipping” their DVIRs instead of performing careful inspections.  Our automated system audits paper DVIRs that stand alone or are attached to the front or back of drivers’ paper logs.  We audit for:

  1. the identification of defects or a notation that no defects were found,
  2. the driver’s signature, and
  3. a notation that repairs either were made or were unnecessary.

We also compare DVIRs with roadside inspections to determine whether  problems were identified on the day of, or the day prior to, an inspection.  To view a sample report, click here.

Electronic DVIR data

RAIR uses electronic data to create DVIR images that are customized to meet the needs of each carrier.  The images can be viewed online and printed.  RAIR audits the electronic DVIR data for the presence of defects/no defects, driver IDs, vehicle IDs, dates, comments, and other features upon request by a carrier.

Online Vehicle Files

RAIR helps motor carriers maintain online vehicle files that are current, accurate, and complete.  Carriers have 24/7 access to their documents from any Internet connection and can update documents after repairs have been made. They can also track licenses and registrations, permits, insurance documents, inspections, and maintenance records (odometer statements, repairs, maintenance orders).   We even offer automated alerts to help carriers keep their files up-to-date.  To view a sample online vehicle file, click here.
