RAIR Introduces the Driver Dashboard

September 14th, 2011

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (September 13, 2011) – RAIR, a leading provider of safety and compliance services to the transportation industry, has introduced a Driver Dashboard, which allows users to quickly assess a driver’s performance.

The dashboard summarizes all of a driver’s hours of service and driver qualification file data within RAIR’s system, as well as CSA data.  “Under CSA, which is a behavior-based evaluation system, it’s becoming increasingly evident that managing driver behavior is a key to keeping BASICs scores low,” said Gregory J. Lofy, RAIR’s president and CEO.  “The driver dashboard helps turn the pieces of data we audit into an integrated, easy-to-use picture of a driver’s behavior.”

The Driver Dashboard is a complimentary service to users of RAIR’s Log Auditing, Driver Qualifications, and CSA services.  Links to RAIR’s reporting programs are embedded in the dashboard, enabling users to quickly access more detailed information on a driver.  For carriers who use customized scoring within RAIR’s system, the dashboard presents the driver’s score, so users can see how the driver is performing relative to other drivers in the fleet.

RAIR Integrates its Safety and Compliance Services

September 1st, 2011

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (September 1, 2011) – RAIR, a leading provider of safety and risk management services to the transportation industry, has announced the integration of its services through a single web portal. Authorized users will be able to access all of their RAIR services with a single log-in, improving ease of use and data security. Most important, the integration will allow RAIR to offer a more comprehensive safety and compliance solution.

“By integrating our services, the possibilities for leveraging safety data multiply,” said Gregory J. Lofy, RAIR’s president and chief executive officer. “Driver log auditing reports, for example, are essential for managing drivers’ hours-of-service. But these reports become even more valuable when they include drivers’ Fatigued Driving BASIC data.”

RAIR already offers a tool that compares data from DVIRs with CSA Vehicle Maintenance BASIC data, helping carriers identify and counsel drivers who routinely perform inadequate vehicle inspections. The report indicates whether the cause of a vehicle-related CSA violation was noted on the DVIR for the day of the inspection or the day prior to the inspection.

Another benefit of the integration of services is improved security. “Moving to a single log in page enhances the security of our clients’ data,” said John Van Nortwick, RAIR’s chief operating officer and senior vice president of information technology. “We have also upgraded our security certificate.”

Appeals Court Vacates EOBR Regulation

August 29th, 2011

On Friday, August 26, a federal appeals court vacated the FMCSA‘s EOBR regulation.  According to a three-judge panel, the action was taken because the regulation fails to address how the rule could prevent the devices from being used to harass drivers.  The Truck and Bus Safety and Regulatory Reform Act of 1988 “requires the agency to ensure that any such device is not used to ‘harass vehicle operators.’”
