FMCSA opens CSA data to the public

December 13th, 2010

Access to CSA data is now available to the public, following a battle in the federal courts led by several groups representing small trucking companies.  Over the weekend, the Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA) proceeded with its plan to expand access to CSA data beyond carriers themselves.

CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) was formerly Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) 2010, but the name changed with the official rollout of the program.

One of the major changes under CSA is a new safety measurement system that replaces SafeStat.  Motor Carrier Measurement System (SMS) data is available at http://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov.  Individual carriers’ CSA scores are available at http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/Search.aspx.  Visitors to the site can search for a carrier by name and state or enter a carrier’s DOT or MC number.

To learn more about CSA, visit http://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov.  To learn more about RAIR’s solution for helping carrier improve their CSA scores, click here or contact RAIR at info@rair.com or 888-444-7010.
